In this program students design and create 3D models to simulate a Mars space station and view their final product in AR. Watch as your students are immersed in their creations through augmented reality, blurring the line between the digital world and the real world!Â
Students will use Google SketchUp to digitally plan, design, and visualise 3D buildings, transportation and equipment to simulate life on Mars. Students explore what constraints and considerations might need to be planned to live on another planet, what possibilities may arise and what technologies we use here on earth from our pursuit to colonise another planet. Augmented Reality (AR) brings the students digitally created content to life. Â
In this program students will:
- understand which attributes of a shape remain the same or change under the effects of transformations such as size, shape or orientation.
- design shelters for humans and other living things that are exposed to changed or harsh environments in space.
- consider practices to save energy and other resources when using systems, for example switching off when not in use, energy saving and resource management.
