Enzymes

VCE

Step 1 of 4

Students investigate the catabolic enzyme amylase in breaking down starch into simple sugars.

They will create a standard curve in order to determine the optimal temperature and pH for amylase. Student data can be used for assessment tasks.

This program will address the following key dot points on the study design:

  • Regulation of biochemical pathways in photosynthesis and cellular respiration
  • The general factors that impact on enzyme function in relation to photosynthesis and cellular respiration: changes in temperature, pH, concentration, competitive and non-competitive enzyme inhibitors.
