Our dynamic planet is under constant change. From the islands of Hawaii, Australia’s Cosgrove Track to the San Andreas Fault we face the imminent challenge to adapt to the power of the convection currents that push the crust below our feet. Get ready for an engineering challenge of seismic proportions!

This hands-on program engages students in the world of seismic engineering by exploring earthquakes as a natural disaster. Students set the scene by exploring the theory of plate tectonics to continental movement and patterns of geological activity.

The day is focused around two engineering challenges, earthquake-proof buildings and rescue robots. In each challenge, students develop their science inquiry skills and 21st century skills such as collaboration, creativity, problem solving and communication.
