2 hours fieldwork

Students investigate the role of fire in the Woowookarung regional park, a park subject to regular fuel reduction burning due to its proximity to Ballarat. They will collect a range of data from 2 sites including soil studies, canopy cover, fuel loads and species diversity to assess impact controlled burns have on the environment.

In this program students will:

  • engage in fieldwork
  • discuss the ecological role fire has in the Australian bush
  • collect and interpret fieldwork data.

This program will address the following key dot points on the Study Design:

Please note that this program takes place predominantly outside in all (Ballarat) weather. Bookings are generally only taken for terms 1 and 4.
